The Best Viral Videos Ever
Since the creation of the most famous video sharing website YouTube in 2005, video sharing has been increasing in popularity to the point now where everyone that has access to the internet, it seems, uses the site. Viral videos have been a byproduct of this massive popularity, so much so that YouTube is now used as a marketing medium for many businesses around the world.
Here is a round up of the biggest viral videos on the internet now…
Numa Numa – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60og9gwKh1o
Probably the most recognizable viral video of the last few years has to be one made by a man called Gary Brolsma. Gary filmed himself lip syncing to a Moldovan pop groups song entitled Dragostea din tei, and added his own dance routine to boot. The result was an internet sensation, not because of his abilities but because of the enthusiasm and humor that he displayed. First uploaded in 2006, it is now one of the most viewed videos on YouTube with over 40 million views.
The Star Wars Kid – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPPj6viIBmU
One way to gain a huge number of viewers in a short space of time is to upload a video of yourself, or somebody else, doing something that is so uncomfortable to watch you just want to cover your eyes. Some of the biggest viral videos have become successful for just this reason. The Star Wars Kid is undoubtedly one of the most famous of this variety, being very difficult to watch, purely because of how serious the participant seems to be.
Afro Ninja – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEtIoGQxqQs
With 80 million views and constantly growing, the Afro Ninja is one of the biggest amateur videos to hit YouTube. Embarrassment is the key, here, unfortunately to the detriment of one Mr. Mark Hicks. The actor/stuntman is at a taped audition for a movie and is tasked with choreographing some fighting moves for the camera. Unfortunately it doesn’t go well for Mark; a face plant from an attempted back flip and the inability to continue standing after that, loses him the job; but it did gain him internet fame at least.
Evolution of the Dance – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg
One of, if not the most successful viral video on the internet now that isn’t a music video has to be the Evolution of the Dance video by the stand up comedian and motivational speaker Judson Laipply. In contrast to most other viral videos, this upload has gained in popularity due to a combination of technical ability, humor and choreography, and takes the viewer on a journey through the evolution of dance from the 1960s right up to the present day.
